Photos developed from rescued negatives

About Lost Now Found

Discovery: Indiana University’s Mitchell Hall was a photography lab in which students from all over the world developed negatives and photos, often of their home country. In the 1990’s some students left behind their photographic contact sheets and negatives in the lab. The photos for this project have been developed from negatives that were rescued from Mitchell Hall before it was destroyed.

The Photos:
After close examination of the photos it appears that most of
the photos were taken in a variety of small villages. The exhibit demonstrates a simpler way of life with countless expressions of daily living. The photos show how the people in this village lived, worked and played. There are images of their fishing ventures, canoe building efforts, playful activities, food preparation, farming and much more.

Goal of the Exhibit:
By exhibiting these unedited photos we are giving the people of this far away village an opportunity to show others the simple joys of community. We are also interested in giving credit to the unknown man or woman behind the camera who had the talented eye to capture the subjects and their amazing culture.
